To make your core impact goal more tangible, it’s not enough to define it – you also need to back it up with at least three concrete indicators (KPIs) and clear methods for collecting data. Ideally, these indicators reflect different dimensions of impact – for example, a mix of quantitative metrics (like reach or usage intensity) and qualitative insights (such as changes in knowledge or attitudes, gathered through interviews or surveys).
It’s also clear how, when, and how often the data will be collected, ensuring your measurement remains meaningful over time.
Once the indicators are selected, there’s a plan in place for which tools will be used to track them and how the results will be interpreted. Having both a baseline and target values can help make your progress visible.
Regular reviews make it easier to spot early on whether your KPIs are capturing the change you’re aiming for. They also give you the chance to adjust your methods or focus if needed. This creates a strong foundation for moving toward your main goal – and showing the societal impact you’re already making.
